Card-on-file tokenization is a secure method that replaces actual card numbers with unique digital tokens. These tokens are specific to both the card and the merchant, ensuring that sensitive card details are never stored directly by merchants. Supported by banks and payment networks, tokenization enhances the safety of digital transactions while maintaining the convenience of seamless checkouts, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter card information.

The Safe Card Portal, introduced by Bank of Maharashtra, provides a centralized and secure platform for enhanced customer protection. It offers a complete view of all merchants where tokens are registered and allows suspension or deletion of tokens that are no longer required. New tokens can also be created for registered merchants, enabling secure future payments without exposing actual card details. This system ensures stronger protection, greater control, and a safer digital payment experience.
